Role: Lead Industrial Designer
Code Name: Project Cairo

A complete redesign of Philips' mid-range electric toothbrush, powered by a newly developed drivetrain. The project aimed to evolve the Sonicare brand with a slimmer, more refined form while maintaining performance and user comfort.

Design Objectives

  • Address customer feedback on bulkiness

  • Modernize the visual language of the core Sonicare offering

  • Improve manufacturing integration without compromising aesthetics

Key Contributions

  • Form Factor Optimization
    Collaborated with mechanical engineers to refine internal component layout, achieving a more compact and ergonomic shape.

  • Visual & UX Refinement
    Eliminated the dated decorative panel by integrating a flat control surface into a seamless shell—resulting in a clean, machined look.

  • Manufacturing Innovation
    Solved tooling constraints around sharp button recesses using insert molding, allowing for crisp and precise detailing.

  • Ecosystem Design
    Also led design of the magnetic charger and two premium travel cases to ensure a cohesive and elevated user experience.
